The Bahamas Expedition

A week aboard the 65-foot catamaran Cat Ppalu is always a treat and this week was no exception.  We took the opportunity to sink and shrink some styrofoam heads as an example of the relationship between depth and pressure, and to compare colors at the surface and underwater.  But the real draw to this trip was the mystery of the Nassau Blue Hole.  Starting in just 30-feet of water, the blue hole drops to about 200-feet and each summer it becomes home to a large numbers of sharks.  What kind of sharks and why are do they come here?  That is what we wanted to find out.  To follow the latest developments visit the Sharks of the Blue Hole page.
